Hey Sarah!!!

I love reading your blog. Keep up the good work.

I cannot imagine what it must be like to have my race play the lead in every relationship. It seems like people either treat you like royalty, or they mistrust you. And you're right, only Jesus can change that. You're dealing with centuries' worth of pain and suffering and inequality. It has been unfairly thrust upon you. It's not your fault, but I believe that God uses us as proxies sometimes. The original crimes' perpetrators and victims are long gone, but the crime, and all of the spiritual fallout are still creating an obstacle for the Lord to move. The exciting part is that just by being there and doing what you're doing, you're a small part of the larger redemptive work God is doing in Africa. You are a small part of the reconciliation of Africa with the West. More will follow, and many more are there with you. I think of organizations like DATA and Blood:Water Mission and so many more like them, including Medical Missions of West Africa, and I KNOW God is bringing restoration and healing, and one day they will look at people like you and me and not see someone so wholly different than themselves, but just another human.

You are doing a fantastic job. Remember that. It's almost miraculous if you think about where you are and what you are doing. I'm excited for you.

I heard an author give a talk recently about Story. He feels that God's Word is filled with folks living great stories, and that God wants us all to live great stories. And the best stories are filled with sacrifice and conflict and trials to overcome. Sarah, you're living a GREAT story. A page turner. Keep it up.

Love you, we'll skype soon,
Killian

Hey Sarah,
Just wanted you to know that Hope and I have been praying for you every night. Currently many of us are sick with colds and there is a ton of snow everywhere. Happy Ester! I don't think that there is much that you can do about the intolerance toward your race. With my limited encounter in a similar situation in high school I would say that time and letting people observe who you are and not just the color of you skin will make the biggest impact. Hang in there; you have a good head on those shoulders!
In Christ, Matthew

Thank you for sharing your life in Africa with us in this way! You are an excellent writer and I imagine a book in the future that will tell us all that the Lord has done! What a huge blessing you are already, and you have only just begun!
Great pictures too!
